Multimodal Presentation

In this Multimodal presentation, I was assigned to translate my writing from essays and other assignments into another form of presentation. Therefore, I created a presentation that would present the connection between language and Nursing in a different way while still explaining the main thesis statement and facts.

How Did The Multimodal Presentation Address My Growth? What Course Learning Outcomes Did I Achieve?

I learned a lot from this assignment because it was not a translation of ideas from an essay to a presentation. Instead, it was a way for us to display our thesis statement and arguments in a different way while still having evidence and important ideas throughout the presentation. I tried to make the multimodal presentation understandable from the reader’s end, so I took a light approach in explaining the thesis statement and subtopics that explain the connection between language and nursing. I made sure that I had important images and graphs that support the connection between language and nursing. I could have done better by including a voice over. However, my noisy studio apartment with 4 other family members prevented me from doing so.

In terms of this assignment, 2-course learning outcomes were fulfilled. One CLO is to “understand and use print and digital tech to address a range of audiences.” To interpret the ideas in a new way a different form of media needs to be used. These different forms of media consist of different ways of presenting information such as using articles, specific text, and images. To add on, this form of media was used to reinterpret the main points of the exploratory essay while translating it into a different form. Therefore, I succeeded by using a presentation and teaching the audience about the connection between language and the nursing profession in a simple way.

Part of CLO # 6 that correlates with my growth in presenting information is “locating research sources through library databases” because in order to make an effective presentation new data and images needed to be found to appeal to the audience. Therefore, I made sure that the graphs came from a scholarly source and was accurate. When teaching an audience about a topic inaccurate sources should not be used as it could create bias or a misunderstanding with the reader.
